Sharing the top spot with a 2-0 record, Adamson University (AdU) Baby Falcons will battle the National University (NU) Bullpups in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 79 juniors’ basketball tournament on Saturday at The Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.
The two teams were tied at the top spot after the Adamson Baby Falcons dispatched the Far Eastern University (FEU) Baby Tamaraws, 78-65, on Tuesday.
The Baby Falcons banked on their fastbreak baskets with 20 points against FEU’s 10. They also took advantage of the Baby Tamaraws’ 24 turnovers, tallying 21 markers.
But the Baby Tamaraws dominated under the basket with 54 rebounds against Adamson’s 47.
Meanwhile, the Bullpups upset the Ateneo de Manila High School (AHS) Blue Eaglets, 73-68.
“We have to be consistent in what we do. We’ll go out there and do our best both in offense and defense,” said Adamson head coach Goldwyn Monteverde. The battle for the top spot will be at 9 a.m.
After the Adamson-NU clash, the FEU Baby Tamaraws will face the Ateneo Blue Eaglets at 11 a.m. The match-up between the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs and the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School (DLSZ) Junior Archers will follow at 1 p.m. University of the East (UE) will go up against the University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) at 3 p.m.
Ateneo, UPIS, FEU, and UE are currently tied at third spot with a 1-1 record. UST and DLSZ are both tied at the bottom of the ranks with a winless record, 0-2.
