DEFENDING champion Far Eastern University (FEU)-Diliman beat Ateneo de Manila University, 4-2, to clinch the outright championship berth in the University Athletic Association Season 78 juniors football eliminations at the Moro Lorenzo Football Field.
Kieth Absalon netted a brace, scoring in the 57th minute and in stoppage time to seal the victory for the Baby Tamaraws.
FEU-Diliman finished the double-round eliminations on top of the table with a maximum of 18 points to gain qualification in the one-game final which is slated on Saturday at the Katipunan venue.
Also delivering the goods for the Baby Tamaraws were Chester Gio Pabualan, who opened the scoring in the 38th minute and Darryl Aban, who doubled their lead nine minutes later.
The Blue Eaglets wound up second with nine points.
Ateneo will face De La Salle-Zobel, a 1-0 winner over University of Santo Tomas, in the
knockout match for the second title game slot on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Sherwin Basindanan found the back of the net in the 76th minute for the Junior Archers, who collected seven points in third spot.
The Tiger Cubs finished their season with one point.
