Baclaran footbridge suicide try foiled

STREET sweepers foiled a suicide attempt of a man who was seen dangling from a footbridge in Baclaran, Paranaque City (Metro Manila). Randy Aleman, 31, was seen hanging with a nylon cord looped around his neck and tied to the iron grills of the footbridge around 9 a.m. on Monday. An alleged suicide note was written on his T-shirt, apologizing to some people. He was quickly rescued by the street sweepers and brought to the nearby San Juan de Dios Hospital. He is now in stable condition but doctors said Aleman sustained a neck fracture. He was transferred to the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City (also in Metro Manila) on Tuesday after he was diagnosed to be suffering from mental disorder. The hospital staff is trying to contact Aleman’s relatives.
