Bacolod City: Mayor Monico Puentevella, a member of the ruling Liberal Party, expressed confidence that Senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. will deliver on his election promises and help his city once elected vice president.
In a courtesy call of Marcos at the city hall, Puentevella said he is sure that the senator will help Bacolod since he has always been helpful.
“I know him, we were together in Congress for many years. I know how he works. Whenever I ask for his help for Bacolod, he is always there. I know him, he will help us,” Puentevella told members of the media.
This early, Puentevella has one request from Marcos – the construction of an additional 500-meter runway in Bacolod airport, so they can accommodate international flights.
Marcos was warmly welcomed here, although the Negros area is considered a bailiwick of the administration party.
Marcos said he is lucky because local candidates have crossed party lines to support his candidacy.
“But I feel confident because I was fortunate that many of the leaders here, and in other places as well, have become my friends,” he said.
Aside from Bacolod City, Marcos brought his campaign sorties in the cities of Bais and Bayawan in the province of Negros Oriental where he was warmly received by local officials and the people.
