For two years in a row, the City of Bacoor in Cavite has received the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno turned over the citation to Mayor Lani Mercado Revilla during the SGLG National Conferment Ceremony at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza on October 27. Sueno commended the city’s officials for their remarkable performance and commitment in its goal towards “Tapat At Mahusay Na Pamahalaang Lokal” (True and Excellent Local Governance).
Aiming for this prestigious seal requires Local Government Units (LGUs) to meet the upgraded standards and criteria based on three core components, and at least an essential area set by the DILG. These are Financial Administration, Social Protection, and Disaster Preparedness.
LGUs are also measured in three essential areas namely, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, and Environmental Management. The parameters are set to help strengthen and uplift an LGU towards excellent governance.
Upon receiving the seal, the elated lady mayor thanked and congratulated the City Council of Bacoor, the department and unit Heads, employees, volunteers and other hardworking and dedicated individuals behind what she described as “Bacoor City’s continuing transformation.”
“The Lord God works wonders. Our strength and wisdom come from our Lord. We lift this all up to Him,” said Revilla.
Bacoor City received its very first Seal of Good Local Governance in 2015 during the last term of now Congressman Strike Revilla.
