BAGUIO CITY: City council members here adopted a resolution asking drugstores to provide waiting areas with chairs for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and pregnant or sick persons. The measure was earlier proposed by Senior Citizen Official For-A-Day councilor Sonia Mina and carried out by the city council committee on social services, women and urban poor. “Issuances and decrees were issued by the State and local government units to protect and enhance the welfare of its marginalized and underprivileged sector , which include among others, senior citizens, persons with disability, pregnant women and sick persons. They are the sectors that need special attention not only from the government but from all sectors of society,” the resolution stated. Under the law, senior citizens and PWDs are granted privileges upon presentation of identification cards.
