BAGUIO CITY: Keep yourself warm and healthy, so reminds the Health Services Office (HSO) to residents and visitors as temperatures continue to drop. Donabel Tubera, HSO surveillance and epidemiology unit head, said people can use jackets, bonnets and mufflers in keeping themselves warm. She also advised them to drink hot water or soup instead of coffee. Tubera, a doctor, also advised those who are taking maintenance medications to regularly take their pills and have a regular check-up aside from avoiding fatty and salty food. She added that a healthy lifestyle and a regular physical exercise program helps in keeping fit. Tubera pointed out that Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) and heart ailments, including stroke, are prevalent here during the cold season. The Philippine weather bureau PAGASA said days will continue to get colder as February nears. So far, the lowest temperature recorded this year was 11 degrees centigrade.
