BALANGA CITY: Residents here were treated to a colorful show depicting the old times as the city celebrated the country’s 116th Independence Day on Wednesday. Wearing national costumes, people from various sectors took part in an early morning parade led by City Vice Mayor Noel Valdecanas. The celebration featured a presentation of the evolution of the Philippine flag from the “KKK” representing the flag of Andres Bonifacio’s Katipunan to the present flag. Flowers were laid at the monument of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal with the Galeria Victoria dancing fountain as backdrop while white balloons and doves were released at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga.
