BAGUIO CITY: Mayor Mauricio Domogan urged the city council to pass a measure that strictly ban the use of city streets, particularly in the barangays, as parking areas for private vehicles. He said that some city roads are being widened not to serve as parking spaces but to ease traffic flow in response to the perennial traffic problem in the Summer Capital. The Mayor said an ordinance should be passed specifying the prohibition for private vehicle parking along the streets in the absence of a law prohibiting the same. He said the requirement of having a parking space before an owner is issued a vehicle registration or its renewal applies only to public vehicles. He also told barangay leaders to find vacant spaces within their jurisdiction that may be converted into pay parking areas.
