Bandit leader killed, 4 others captured in clash

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Security forces killed a notorious bandit and captured four more, including one of their leaders, in a clash in Zamboanga Sibugay, officials said on Tuesday. Captain Franco Suelto, a spokesman for the 1st Infantry Division, said troops raided the village of Santo Niño in an effort to arrest members of the gang, but the gunmen opened fire on state troopers, sparking a 10-minuted firefight that killed 29-year old Abdul-aziz Alhabshi. Those captured have been identified as Jambal Tarawi, Bernie Sahak, and Alcif Tanjilu. They were implicated by authorities in a series of robberies and killings in the province.
