LIAM McMorrow fired 32 points while Ryan Roose Garcia had 26 as Barako Bull crushed Rain or Shine, 112-103, to regain solo leadership on Sunday in the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup elimination round at the Araneta Coliseum.

Barako claimed its fifth win in six games while Rain or Shine fell to a 1-4 record.

“They showed that they have character. JC Intal has not scored but he was there encouraging his teammates to go on and do what they’re supposed to do. I reminded the boys that the team who knows to play this game the right way will win,” said Barako Bull coach Koy Banal.

Barako led by as much as 14 points midway through the fourth quarter as the Energy Cola landed three of their eight three-pointers to seal the victory.

McMorrow also had 25 rebounds while Joseph Yeo and Dylan Ababou chipped in 19 and 10 points, respectively.

Rain or Shine dominated in the first quarter with Wendell McKines leading the way scoring 13 points. The Elasto Painters nailed a 12-point lead with three minutes remaining in the second period.

But Barako unleashed a 15-5 run for a 52-48 halftime lead.

McKines played well above his average in the loss, tallying a game-high 41 points, 17 rebounds, and two blocks for the Elasto Painters.

Paul Lee also contributed 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
