‘Bata,’ ‘Django’ to see action in Hard Times 10-Ball Billiards


Five veteran Filipino cue masters will be competing in the 5th Annual Hard Times 10-Ball scheduled on July 11 to 13 at the Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, California in US.

Hall of Famers Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante banner the lean but mean Philippine delegation to the three-day meet.

Former world champion Dennis Orcollo, 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games silver medalist Warren Kiamco and Ramon Mistica are also in the team.

The Filipinos will be up against the best players in the world including reigning US Open 10-Ball Champion Rodney Morris, former US Open 9-Ball titlist Shane Van Boening, and Taiwanese stars Ko Pin Yi, Ko Pin Chung, Chang Jun Ling and Cheng Yu Hsuan.

Meanwhile, Carlo Biado dropped from second place to fifth spot in the latest ranking of the World Pool-Billiard Association. He has a total score of 13,040 points.

Lee Vann Corteza also fell from fourth to sixth with 11,900 points.

Johann Chua, on the other hand, improved to 11th from his previous ranking of 38th with 9,530 points.

Newly crowned World 9-Ball champion Neil Feijen of the Netherlands took the No. 1 position with 18,500 points.

The other Filipinos on the list are No. 16 Orcollo, No. 20 Jeffrey Ignacio, No. 21 Elmer Haya, No. 27 Kiamco, No. 42 Antonio Gabica and Raymund Faraon, No. 47 Reyes, No. 49 Ramil Gallego, and No. 71 Bustamante.
