BALANGA CITY, Bataan: The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology said of the 2,002 detainees at the Bataan District Jail here, 70 percent are involved in drug-related cases. Jail Senior Insp. Prudencio Dulnuan, Jr., Bataan BJMP chief of the Administration Section, said the percentage has increased since July 1 this year as 24 out of the 35 inmates have cases on illegal drugs. He could not say if the number will continue to rise with reports that police have intensified its campaign against illegal drugs. “Ang alam lang namin na number ay iyong basta napasok na sa jail,” he said. Dulnuan noted that the Bataan Provincial Jail is 490% over-congested based on the ideal capacity of 408 per United Nations standards.
