BALANGA City: Bataan on Friday launched I-Patroller that will involve the use of social media in reporting and addressing violations of laws and other problems in different villages in the province. The towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Orion, Limay and Mariveles were tapped as pilot areas. The program was copied after the I-Patroller conceived in 2013 by then Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd of Balanga that Police Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo Jr., Bataan police director, said was successful in the city. Garcia, now second district congressman, said I-Patroller brought many benefits for Balanga. “The use of messaging application resulted in the favorable peace and order condition in the city,” he said. The congressman added that the operation of the program is very simple because it involves police-members of I-Patroller with motorcycles and cellphones with Internet access, and a command center in each town to monitor the violations and actions taken. “Once the pictures are taken, these will be uploaded to the closed group [of law enforcers]who will act immediately to resolve the problem,” Garcia said.
