BALANGA CITY, Bataan: A total of 773 vote counting machines (VCMs) in 167 voting centers were completely sealed in simultaneous testing and sealing operations with only minor glitches in 11 towns and one city here on Friday in preparation for Monday’s polls. Cris Manuel, assistant provincial election supervisor, said that members of the Board of Election Inspectors in 773 clustered polling precincts encountered problems like some USB ports not detected by the modem, but these were fixed by technicians of Smartmatic. A VCM in Limay town was replaced after it malfunctioned. Aside from one VCM for each clustered precincts, two extra units are on standby for the towns of Hermosa, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Pilar, Orion, Limay, Bagac and Morong. For areas with big voting populations like Mariveles and Dinalupihan towns and Balanga City, three additional VCMs are on standby. There are 494,076 registered voters in Bataan – 217, 868 in the first district and 276, 208 in the second district.
