The Philippine National Under-18 Basketball Team continued its aggressive run in the 2016 Southeast Asia Basketball (SEABA) U18 Championship with a rout of Singapore, 87-52, at Medan, Indonesia on Tuesday.
John Bahio led the Batang Gilas in scoring, registering a total of 16 points 53 percent shooting performance from the field while adding two steals and two blocks.
The dominant frontcourt pressure of Philippines proved to be a boost for the squad as 64 points of their total tally were made from inside the shaded area.
The Filipino crew managed to win the battle for the defensive rebounds with 35 total boards against the foes’ 19 in spite of committing more turnovers during the contest.
Josh Sinclair once again came up with big numbers for the Philippines with a total output of 11 points and nine rebounds while Pedro Alfaro III added 12 markers.
Theo Flores had 10 points and seven boards and Jonas Tibayan and Jolo Mendoza contributed nine points each.
The victory sealed the team’s berth to the finals of the competition and a sure spot in the upcoming FIBA Asia U18 Championship to be held in Iran this July.
