It was a back-and-forth exchange the whole game with eight lead changes and seven ties in, but the Global Port Batang Pier still pulled off a 91-89 victory over the Purefoods Star Hotshots in the PBA Governor’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.
Joe Devance made a careless turnover with 40 seconds left in the quarter. Coach Pido Jarencio set up a play that led to a basket by Stanley Pringle putting the Batang Pier up by four with 12 seconds left in the game. Marqus Blakely got away with a follow-up basket for Purefoods, but Global Port was able to burn out the clock with their two-point advantage.
