GlobalPort guns for a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals when it face leading team Alaska today in the 40th Philippine Basketball Association Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Batang Pier of head coach Pido Jarencio, currently carrying a 6-4 win-loss record at the No. 4 spot, will rely on 6’10 import Jarrid Famous and Asian import Omar Krayem to score a crucial victory against the Aces who recently defeated erstwhile No. 1 San Miguel Beer. The first game begins at 4 p.m.

Providing backup to the imports are Terrence Romeo, rookie Stanley Pringle, Billy Mamaril, Anthony Semarad and Keith Jensen, among others.

The Aces have nothing to lose even if they failed to beat Batang Pier. Alaska, under head coach Alex Compton, hold an 8-2 win-loss record that assured them of the top spot and a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

In the second game at 7:15 pm, the Star Hotshots (5-5) need a crucial win when they battle the already-eliminated Blackwater Elite (1-9).

Star Margarine, with its superior quotients, is already assured of a slot in the top eight together with the Meralco Bolts (5-5).
