Arnel Bautista of Surigao banked on his power break to overpower Boots Augusto of Cebu, 11-6, and ruled the Mega Sports World10-Ball Open International Billiards Championship held at the King of Sports Hall in Quezon City.
Bautista pocketed a whopping $5,000 top purse while Augusto settled for the $2,500 runner-up prize.
Bautista ousted Resty Labastida, 9-5, in semifinals while Augusto stunned veteran campaigner Johann Chua, 9-4, in the other Final Four match. Chua and Labastida received $1,000 and $ 1,500, respectively.
Prominent foreign pool sharks Ralf Souquet of Germany and American Rodney Morris also took part in prestigious tournament but lost in the early stages.
