San Beda College posted a 21-25, 27-25, 25-13, 25-18 come-from-behind win over Lyceum of the Philippines University to keep its Final Four hopes alive in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 91 men’s volleyball tournament on Monday at The Arena in San Juan City.
Power-hitting Mark Christian Enciso scored 21 points on 17 attacks, two blocks and two aces to power the Red Lions to their fifth win in eight games.
Team captain Alfie Mascarinas contributed 18 points while Gerald Zabala added 11, and Felix Manliclic and Earl Kenneth Gonzales chipped in a combined 17-point output.
San Beda took the solo fourth spot with 5-3 while idle Arellano University dropped to fifth with 4-3.
Lyceum, on the other hand, fell to 3-5.
Joeward Presnede and Jhonel Badua connived for 28 points for the Pirates.
In the women’s division, San Beda outlasted Lyceum via a thrilling 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 21-25, 15-12 decision.
The Lionesses improved to 3-5 while the Lady Pirates dropped to 4-4.
Nieza Viray nailed 25 points and Satrianni Espiritu got 14 for San Beda while Grenlen Malapit led Lyceum with 13.
In the other game, Jose Rizal University blasted Mapua Institute of Technology, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16, for its fourth win against four defeats.
Mapua remained winless in eight games.
