• Beda formally receives NCAA hosting rights


    The hosting rights of the 92nd season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCA) was formally bestowed upon San Beda College (SBC) in a turnover ceremony held at the Pearl Manila Hotel in Manila on Wednesday.

    “I am thankful for the support of every school and we are very excited for the upcoming season of NCAA,” said SBC Rector-President Fr. Aloysius Ma. A. Maranan.

    Maranan accepted the duties as host from the outgoing host, Mapua Institute of Technology, represented by its president Reynaldo Vea.

    The new NCAA season, with the theme Sports Build Character, Achieving Breakthroughs at NCAA 92, will formally open on June 25 at the Mall of Asia Arena (MOA) in Pasay City.

    Jose Mari Lacson of San Beda will head the management committee for next season.

    Lacson disclosed that all the big games would be played at the MOA while the regular games will be held at the San Juan Arena.

    In the forthcoming season, a four-day game week schedule will be followed.

    On Mondays, two junior games will be played while on Tuesdays, two seniors game will be held.

    During Thursdays, only one junior and two seniors matches will be played while Friday games will feature two juniors and two seniors matches.

    Present in the turnover ceremony were presidents and representatives of NCAA member school among them Arellano University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Lyceum of the Philippines University, College of Saint Benilde, University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta, Jose Rizal University, San Sebastian College Recoletos, Mapua and San Beda.
