Defending champion San Miguel Beer started its title-defense bid with a masterful 104-96 victory over Phoenix at the start of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 43 Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) June Mar Fajardo anchored the Beermen’s decisive 18-4 blast in the final six minutes to turn a slim 85-80 lead into a 103-86 cushion with 2:41 remaining and the Fuel Masters never recovered from that point.
