• Belarus not in doping ‘risk zone,’ says official

MINSK: The Belarussian athletics federation on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) denied the country was at risk of being suspended after being named on an IAAF monitoring list over its anti-doping program. Belarus is one of five countries the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) said last week is in “critical care” because of shortcomings in doping prevention. “I wouldn’t say that our country is in the risk zone,” TASS news agency quoted Alexander But-Gusaim, the head of the Belarussian athletics federation, as saying. IAAF president Sebastian Coe last week said that Belarus, as well as Ukraine and Kenya, had to ensure their anti-doping programs are “significantly strengthened” before the end of the year.
