FILIPINO bantamweight mixed martial arts fighter Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon is set to fight Korean Dae Hwan Kim on March 14, in a co-main event non-title bout of One Fighting Championship War of Nations at the Negara Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Belingon is coming off a spectacular first round technical knockout win over unbeaten David Aranda Santacana in One FC Moment of Truth at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City last December.
Kim also posted an impressive victory in the last edition of One FC by beating Thanh Vu of Vietnam via rear-naked choke in round two to improve his record to 9-0-1 win-loss-draw.
The 26-year-old Team Lakay member, who holds a 13-3 win-loss record (five by knockouts and five by submission), is undergoing intensive training in Baguio under coach Mark Sangiao. As a former sanshou champion, Belingon is known for his brutal punches and kicks.
Kim on the other hand, is a submission-grappling specialist. A win by Belingon over the Korean will most likely earn him a title shot this year.
In the women’s class, Singapore’s Sherilyn Lim will face Malaysia’s Ann Osman in a rematch.
Lim previously won over Osman via split decision in their first meeting at the Singapore stadium last year.
