LABOR and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello 3rd dismissed an employee of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) for dishonesty and grave misconduct. Bello identified the dismissed employee as Roland Quintos, labor and employment officer II of POEA. The Legal Assistance Division found in separate complaints against Quintos, that he demanded money from overseas workers Edielyn Vega, Belinda Fausto, Susan Carbonilla, Maria Rina Rilla and Florence Fajardo in exchange for the return of their travel documents and departure. Quintos also issued the overseas employment certificate (OEC) of Nora Macaampao and five others without her personal appearance at the Labor Assistance Center in violation of the 2002 POEA Rules and Regulations Governing Recruitment and Employment of Land-Based Overseas Workers.
