LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Farmers showed support to the advocacy of collecting fertilizer bottles and disposing them properly by joining the “Magtriple-Rinse at Mana-lo!” raffle incentive program in this vegetable producing and mineral-rich province. Croplife Director Cris Michelena said the raffle was designed to encourage the farmers to exchange their empty fertilizer bottles to raffle tickets and win cash and other items. The first draw on September 15 at the Benguet Provincial Capitol gathered more than 19,000 tickets from different farmers and municipalities in Benguet. Michelena said the raffle supports the recently passed Provincial Ordinance 11-150 which helps protect the environment and ecosystem from the potentially inimical effects of careless disposal of used pesticide containers in the fields and waterways of the farms. Benguet Vice Gov. Nelson Dangwa, Board Members Jack Dulnuan, Concepcion Balao and Florence Tingbaoen and CropLife officials conducted the first raffle draw.
