• Benguet govt calls for proper disposal of empty pesticide containers

TUBLAY, Benguet: As part of efforts to raise awareness on the proper way of handling empty pesticide containers by farmers, empty pesticide containers were turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources for proper recycling and disposal. The Triple–Rinse program is pursuant to the Provincial Ordinance 11-150 of Benguet, known as the “Empty Pesticide Container Management Ordinance”. This encourages rinsing of empty pesticide bottles three times and using the resulting wastewater as spray for agricultural produce. With this, distributors, dealers and agrochemical companies are encouraged to lead the collection of these empty fertilizer and pesticide bottles to ensure proper disposal.
