Benguet noodles gaining popularity

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: With its nutritional value and low cost, Veggie Instant Noodles is becoming popular among consumers, especially mothers.

The brand is a favorite of many commercial establishments because of its healthy image, according to Violeta Salda, project officer of the Benguet Vegetable Processing Center (BVPC).

Aside from big groceries in malls, the noodles can be found in outlets like La Top that sells organic produce only; Mountain Grown in Porta Vaga; and the Benguet State University cooperative store, Salda said.

BVPC also has a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development to use the vegetable-enriched noodles in relief packs distributed by the latter during disaster operations.

The noodles are delicious and colorfully packaged to attract children. They are made from vegetables like carrots, potatoes, squash, camote, and pechay that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

Salda said they are nutritious and affordable even for poor families.
