LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: An animal demonstration and learning site cum farm tourism area is being developed on an eight-hectare land in Sitio Colon, Barangay San Pascual in Tuba town here. Provincial Veterinarian Miriam Tiongan said ongoing activities in the area include goat and pig-raising, forage planting, fruit and vegetable farming. In place also is native pig housing. The farm will be used to train farmers in managing poultry and livestock, said Tiongan, in line with the Farm Tourism Law or Republic Act 10816 sponsored by Sen. Cynthia Villar. The law recognizes the importance of agriculture in making available food and other products and providing livelihood to agriculture and fishery communities. Farm tourism encompasses crop and livestock production from the farm to the table, and brings activity to tourists in the farm.
