LA TRINIDAD: Itogon town wants a share from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) fire code fees collected from business permits and licenses to operate and maintain its local fire station. Councilor Alexander Fianza filed Municipal Council Resolution No. 082 requesting the BFP-Cordillera Administrative Region through Regional Director F/C Sergio Soriano Jr. to remit 20 percent of the Fire Code fees. The 2008 Revised Fire Code of the Philippines otherwise known as Republic Act 9514 mandates that “all taxes, fees or fines provided in the Code shall be collected by the BFP, provided that 20 percent of such collection shall be set aside and retained for use by the city or municipal government concerned.” The Itogon Fire Station cannot implement programs because of financial constraints.
