After a long wait, England-based ultra-luxe carmaker Bentley finally unboxed its widely anticipated, first-ever sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Bentayga. Following a formal unveiling at the Frankfurt Motorshow last September, the new Bentley was more thoroughly introduced to dealers through a global retailer conference in California early this year. Participants were treated to dynamic day drive that gave them a better appreciation of the SUV’s real-world abilities – even where a paved road wasn’t present. So-called “incubator sessions” more thoroughly discussed product features, along with target-market assessment and identification.
The vehicle is named after the Rogue Bentayga – a rugged peak in subtropical Gran Canaria under the control of Spain. Designers and engineers were also inspired by Taiga, the world’s largest transcontinental snow forest and terrestrial biome spanning continents and located throughout the northern latitude.
