• Best wishes to the ‘princess bride’

She may be the Philippines’ undisputed Comedy Queen but when AiAi de las Alas walks down the aisle to marry her longtime partner Gerald Sibayan on December 12, she envisions herself as a “princess bride.”

Speaking with The T-Zone at a pre-wedding-cum-birthday party for her groom on November 30, AiAi looked blissfully happy and stress-free unlike most brides-to-be. Asked how she managed to glow a whole fortnight before the big day, the Comedy Queen said that much as she’s a bridezilla herself—particular over the tiniest details—she hired wedding planners she knows she can trust and who can pull off her heart’s bridal desires.

As for her look on the big day, she excitedly quipped, “Prinsesa ako!”

Thanks to her best friend Marian Rivera whom she playfully calls “Kambal” [twin], who has gifted her with her Frederick Peralta gown, AiAi promises to wow Gerald on Saturday in a design of opulent romance.

“Wait until you see it,” Frederick meanwhile enthused to The T-Zone a couple of days later. “The details are under wraps like everything else about the wedding, but it will be fabulous! AiAi and Gerald, as you know, would like to keep their special day as private as possible.”

Indeed, even the wedding venue has been kept a secret to media, and while AiAi told The T-Zone where the Catholic wedding will be held [it’s closer than you think], the popular comedienne—a Papal Awardee for her benevolent charity work—proudly showed the misallette where no less than 10 bishops and priests are listed to bless her union with Gerald.

“Happing-happy talaga ako,” she expressed. “Alam ng lahat na kinasal na ako twice before and hindi nag-work, at pareho yun na hindi sa Catholic Church. So this is a dream come true for me.”

During the pre-wedding party, the couple’s romantic wedding prenup video was shown where AiAi already looked every bit a princess, dressed in elaborate ball gowns.

They “practiced” cutting a wedding cake and exchanging sweet bites of the tradition symbol of good fortune and fertility in marriage, and as always, AiAi did so with a comedic flair.

“Much as we would like to invite everyone to our special day, sana po naiintindihan niyo na hindi kakayanin to have everyone there that’s why we’re having this thanksgiving party,” the bride-to-be said in her speech for her media friends. “Ang saya ng pakiramdam na nakasama ko ang aking mga kaibigan sa isang masayang okasyon sa aking buhay so this party is really for you. It’s my way of expressing my gratitude to you for being there nung mga panahon na nagkamali ako, nasaktan, nalungkot, at ngayon masaya na. Nandiyan kayo sa simula pa lang ng aking career at kasama ko pa rin kayo hanggang ngayon sa panibagong yugto ng aking buhay.”

To deafening cheers, AiAi declared, “I believe in love and I believe na may forever sa pag-ibig.”

AiAi was first married to actor Miguel Vera, with whom she had two children. In April 2013, she married a 28-year-old American businessman named Jed Salang, which ended after a month due to physical abuse. The following year, she got together with Gerald, 30 years her junior, finding “the one” in the shy but loyal college student.

After three years of being together, AiAi happily announced their engagement in April.

To the Princess Bride, our best wishes and hearty congratulations to Gerald!
