Hui Keng Ang, Sony’s senior vice president and general manager for Asia, personally flew into the Philippines to make the announcement at a launch party in Dusit Thani Manila.

“Sony Channel is the future of TV. Stylish, social and savvy, it will create a lifestyle experience,” the executive guaranteed.

Ang further announced that four new shows will be exclusively shown on the cable channel, namely How to Get Away with Murder, the latest drama from executive producer Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy); a White House drama titled Madam Secretary starring Téa Leoni; a romantic comedy in Manhattan Love Story; and the comedic drama Jane The Virgin.

“We believe there is an opportunity in the Philippines for a general entertainment destination that is female focused, but also male inclusive. These four new series are smart, edgy and driven by strong women—a perfect fit for the new Sony Channel brand,” he explained.

The much-awaited How to Get Away with Murder marked the birth of the new Sony Channel when it premiered on October 15.

In the new drama, Oscar nominee Viola Davis (Doubt, The Help) stars as the brilliant, charismatic professor and master litigator Annalise Keating, who invites five of her first year law students to work on high profile cases and manipulates them into doing dirty legal legwork.

Joining the station’s banner shows are returning series including medical drama The Night Shift, musical drama Nashville, reality competition Cupcake Wars, and dating series The Millionaire Matchmaker.

Sony Channel is available on SKYCable Channel 35, Cignal Digital TV Channel 60, Destiny Cable Channel 62, Cable Link Channel 39. Fore more information, follow www.facebook.com/SonyChannelPH or twitter.com/SonyChannelPH.
