While Filipinos are excited to see Rachel Ann Go as Fantine at the upcoming Manila run of Les Misérables’ come March 2016, they will first get the chance to watch the former cast of the renowned musical perform in a one-night concert.
As a prelude to the long-awaited Les Mis in Manila, producers of the tour Lunchbox Theatrical Productions and Concertus Manila will stage Beyond the Barricade on October 7 at the Solaire Theatre in Pasay City.
Beyond the Barricade is critically acclaimed concert from UK features past principal performers from West End and touring Les Mis. For the Manila show, members of London’s longest-running musical will perform including Andy Reiss who has played numerous male roles including Jean Valjean; David Fawcett who was also Valjean; Katie Leeming, known for her version of Eponine; and Rebecca Vere, who is remembered as Cosette. They are joined by an ensemble of talented musicians to create an authentic live experience, capturing all the passions and orchestrations of the original shows.
The four talented performers have already toured Europe, performed for the royalty including Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, and were also featured in the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Concert staged at the O2 Arena in London.
As for the musical aspect of the show, it does go “beyond the barricade” for it will also feature hits from other much-loved musicals like “Is On In Saigon” from Miss Saigon, and “The Circle of Life” from Lion King, among others.
But of course, it will close with a spectacular finale featuring seven songs from the much-awaited Les Misérables.
