BALANGA City, Bataan: The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources distributed here various assistance worth P18.985 million in the form of fishing gears and equipment to about 1,700 fishermen from 11 towns here. BFAR R-3 Dir. Lilian Garcia said other items they gave were portable solar lamps, life vests, marine engine, non-motorized banca and fiber glass boats, worth P2.532M. Vending equipment amounting P.195M were given to fish vendors, while bangus and tilapia fingerlings worth P.806M were given to the towns of Morong, Orani and Limay through community fish landing centers. Balanga City, known for its smoke and dried fish industry, was awarded gillnets, smokehouse and vacuum packaging machines valued at P.909M. The towns of Orani and Pilar were given assistance worth P1M and P1.194M, respectively. Also recipients of the Bottom Up Budgeting projects worth P3.799M were Orani and Limay.
