BGC developer opens co-working space for SMEs, startups

FORT Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC), the developer behind Bonifacio Global City (BGC), launched on Friday its newest co-working space to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Square One BGC is specially designed for SMEs. “They’re top-of-mind when we decided to come up with this facility,” said Eli Yaneza, FBDC’s manager for business development, property planning and office leasing.

“Startups and growing businesses are founded by creative innovators with great ideas. Such business starters contribute to the country’s gross domestic product [GDP]. At the same time, they help provide employment, income, training and experience for other working individuals for them to become globally competitive,” she added.

“But we also cater to entrepreneurs, professionals and freelancers, basically anyone who needs to have his/her own small office or desk but cannot because they are intimidated by the costs incurred by traditional offices,” Yaneza said.

FBDC’s office leasing portfolio currently includes eight office buildings in BGC with five more in the pipeline which primarily cater to large-format office spaces.

“We have been in the office leasing business since BGC started and have mainly targeted traditional set-ups and BPOs [business process outsourcing], but it’s about time we also offer small spaces. In the future they will be our clients in our bigger offices as well,” Yaneza added.

Square One BGC is strategically designed to create a conductive work atmosphere for its clients. It also offers a reliable internet connection, free brewed coffee and other refreshments through its creatively designed pantry, as well as postal/courier services.
