• BI nabs 49 foreign call center agents


    AT LEAST 49 foreigners working as call center agents were arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents in Makati City (Metro Manila) for failure to present necessary working permits. Immigration spokesperson and lawyer  Elaine Tan said 21 of those arrested are from Ivory Coast, Guinea (2), Congo (7), Benin (1), Cameroon (15) and Mauritius (3), who all failed to present proper immigration documents during actual verification. Tan added the foreigners, most of whom have been working in the country for two years,  are facing deportation proceedings.
