BI SETS P70M FOR MODERNIZATION PROGRAM

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is modernizing its services with P70-million worth of computers and other devices. Immigration Commissioner Siegfred Mison on Thursday said the bureau is upgrading its border control system to assist the immigration officers to be efficient and effective in their jobs as gatekeepers of the country. This first and second quarter, BI will distribute to the different airports and seaports 220 units of passport readers, 200 units of workstations, 440 fingerprint scanners, 350 high definition webcams and 10 document readers.
