Biado edges Pagulayan to take 10-ball open crown in LA



Unheralded Carlo Biado topped the Hard Times 10-Ball Open in Los Angeles, California.

Biado posted an impressive 11-1 victory over former World 9-Ball champion Alex Pagulayan in their all-Filipino championship showdown.

Biado pocketed the $5,300 top purse and Pagulayan the $3,200 runner-up prize.

It was Biado’s first title this year. He was the fourth Filipino to win the title, following in the footsteps of Lee Vann Corteza (2010), Pagulayan (2011) and Dennis Orcollo (2012).

Early this month, Biado settled for second and $1,500 cash prize in the West Coast Challenge One Pocket Tournament held in Mountain View, California. He lost to veteran campaigner Darren Appleton of Great Britain in the finals.

Biado already has $24,450 in winnings this year. He placed fourth in the Ultimate 10-Ball 2013 ($7,550)., fifth in the China Open Men’s Division 2013 ($5,500), fourth in the Southern California 9-Ball Division 2013 ($2,400), sixth in the 2013 Derby City Classic 9-Ball Banks Division ($800), 13th in the 2013 Derby City Classic 9-Ball Division ($850) and 15th in the 2013 Derby City Classic One-Pocket Division ($550).
