LEGAZPI CITY: Outgoing Rep. Al Francis Bichara is making a comeback as he announced his plan to run for governor in Albay after serving nine years as representative of the second congressional district.
Bichara, who served for three consecutive terms as governor in Albay from 1995 to 2004, will run under the Nacionalista Party.
He filed his certificate of candidacy accompanied by his running mate and re-electionist Vice Gov. Harold Imperial of the Liberal Party and political supporters.
When asked if he will continue the programs and projects initiated by outgoing Gov. Joey Salceda, Bichara said he needs to look into the funds of the provincial government.
“Almost all of my programs and project were continued by Gov. Joey specifically on tourism, establishment of international airport and the zero casualty goal of the government. So, we will continue also his initiated programs if elected by the people,” he said.
When asked who among the presidential contenders he will be supporting, he said that his local leaders support Libe- ral Party standard bearer Mar Roxas.
For the vice presidential candidate he prefers to support, Bichara said that he will choose the strongest Bicolano candidate.
