LEGAZPI CITY: The line has been drawn. Bicol leaders have decided to support Liberal Party vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo over her province-mate Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

However, Senator Grace Poe, will be supported by the Villafuertes in Camarines Sur.

The political players in the region who openly support Robredo are Camarines Sur Gov. Miguel Villafuerte and his father, Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) congressional candidate Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, Rep. Fernando Gonzalez of (3rd District) Albay and Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal.

Rosal said that though experience wise, Escudero is ahead of Robredo, the latter knows what it takes to be a good leader.

“She will continue the dream of her husband (the late Interior secretary Jesse Robredo), Leni can pursue the aspirations and dreams of her husband to serve the country as a fresh leader with untainted reputation as public servant,” Rosal said.

Gonzalez said that Chiz is also a good contender for vice presidential race but as a party man, he (Gonzalez) will abide by the party’s ruling.

“We will make Leni win in Albay through landslide vote,” said Governor Salceda, who is the Liberal Party provincial chairman in Albay province.

In Camarines Sur, the Villafuertes committed their complete support to Poe and Robredo.

Out of the six provinces in Bicol region, Camarines Sur has the biggest number of voters or 40 percent of the voting force followed by Albay.

“At this time, I’ll be frank…Senators Antonio Trillanes, Bongbong Marcos and Alan Peter Cayetano are my friends and mentors but I will be supporting the candidacy of my kababayan. We will support Leni Robredo. So it’s Grace and Leni in Camarines Sur,” the younger Villafuerte said.

“We’re dropping Sen. Chiz Escudero here in Camarines Sur,” he added.

There are four vice presidential candidates from the Bicol region, namely: Robredo, Senators Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillanes 4th and Gregorio Honasan. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano is an adopted son of Albay because wife, Taguig City Mayor Lanie Cayetano, is a native of Tiwi, Albay.

    1. Mr X you are right those mentioned names are all trapos. I bet you Leni Robredo will beat escudero by a landslide vote not only in cam sur but in d whole bicol region. And even in Sorsogon Leni whose father was from bulan town, might give escudero a nightmare in his sleep.

    2. If the Bicolanos are for Poe Llamanzares and Leni Robredo 100% and get elected God forbid, what do you expect from them? Both are inexperience to lead not only Bicolanos but100M Filipinos. I don’t believe Bicolanos are that stupid. They only care for their kababayans that is worse kind of support, it’s regionalism per se. Think of the whole nation, not only a part of the country. Again this is to remind you both females capabilities are not fit to rule the Filipino nation. Surely they cannot save Philippines, it would result to chaos and anarchy due to their incompetence and inability. God save this country. Tough and brave leaders are what we need now before it’s too late.

    3. How could a candidate from Bicol get a seat on the election if support from the Bicol region is not solid. It is a good chance for their opponent to win as they have a solid support from their constituents.

    4. I think this news is not reliable at all. We can’t generalize the entire Bicol region just because Villafuerte said so. We still have Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon. Comparing Chiz and Leni, experience and track record wise, Chiz is way ahead than Leni. Let’s be realistic and rational. Leni is still very new for this. Let’s allow Chiz first because he is the one ready.

    5. Leni Robredo will NEVER win in CAM SUR under honest elections as majority of the influential political leaders in Cam Sur are NOT for Robredo – Rep Luis R. Villafuerte, Sr., Rep Rolando Andaya, Rep Alfelor, Rep Fuentebella . Of the 35 municipalities of Cam Sur the Liberal Party has very FEW candidates

    6. This writer failed to mentione that in the Province of Cam Sur – political big wigs Rep Luis Villafuerte, Sr, , Rep Fuentebella and Rep Alfelor are ALL for BINAY – HONASAN Ticket straight. So majority of the political leaders in Cam Sur are for BINAY-Honasan
and they are NOT for Robredo. Please do accurate reporting ! The senior Luis R. Villafuerte will NEVER vote for Leni Robredo !

      • You also forgot to mention these names are the biggest trapos in Camarines Sur. Of course they won’t support Leni who stands for change and good governance. These people have been in power in Camarines Sur for so many decades but until this time the province still lags behind more progressive provinces in the country.

    7. Nancy Bulok Cake on

Anybody but Escudero. The voters will never forget Escudero’s support to Binay last 2010 VP elections.
