LEGAZPI CITY: Residents of Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate and Catanduanes on Monday opposed the transfer of the Pag-IBIG Fund regional office from this city to Naga City, Camarines Sur. They claimed that Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay’s decision to move the Pag-IBIG office favors his political allies but is detrimental to 100,000 members here. The office will be transferred on September 15 to the building owned by Anton Dy-Prieto, who was accused as jueteng bagman of former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada. Dy-Prieto served as presidential assistant for Bicol affairs during the term of Estrada, Binay’s political ally. Estrada designated Prieto as Presidential Assistant for Regional Concern as an extension arm of the Office of the President to bring the Estrada presidency closer to the people.
