LEGAZPI CITY: Mayor Noel Rosal hopes that Representative and frontrunner vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo could be the first Bicolano to occupy the country’s second top post.
“Leni is the person to beat for the country’s second top post. Perhaps our dream to have a vice president and possibly a future president will be answered, so our region will be totally developed,” the reelected mayor of Legazpi said.
Rosal, a close friend of the late Secretary Jesse Robredo, supported the candidacy of the Roxas-Leni tandem garnering the highest votes for presidential and vice presidential race against other contenders for the same post here.
“Leni is our dream comes true. I believe that Leni will make it with the overwhelming support of the Filipino people,” Rosal said.
The Roxas-Robredo tandem won in the three cities of Albay, Legazpi; Ligao and Tabaco despite Albay governor Joey Salceda’s endorsement of Sen. Grace Poe. The Bicolanos rallied behind the candidacy of Robredo against other Bicolano contenders senators Chiz Escudero, Antonio Trillianes, Gregorio Honasan, and adopted Bicolano senator Allan Cayetano, whose wife Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano, is a native of Tiwi town in Albay.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday proclaimed the winners in various elective positions here.
