The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy this week bicycle-riding policemen in Boracay Island, Aklan, one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, officials said Wednesday.
Regional Police commander, Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz Jr., said a total of 40 police officers in the region have completed their training on bicycle-proficiency handling at the regional headquarters in Iloilo.
“We will deploy 20 of our newly trained bicycle mounted-policemen at Boracay Island this coming Friday,” Cruz said.
The deployment of bicycle patrollers will increase police visibility in the premiere tourist spot and help keep peace and order on the island.
Cruz said the remaining 20 policemen that have completed their training on bicycle proficiency handling be deployed in other parts of the region.
