• Big crowds welcome VP Binay in General Santos City

An estimated crowd of 1,500 welcomed Vice President Jejomar Binay, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) presidential candidate, and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, UNA senatorial bet, as they visited the General Santos City Public Market.

In a press conference, Pacquiao reiterated his support for Binay and UNA.

“Ang sinuportahan natin UNA, ang mahal natin na Bise Presidente, at all out support tayo sa kanya at hindi magbabago yan. Dahil naniniwala ako sa plataporma ng ating incoming president na si Jejomar Binay [We are supporting UNA, we love the Vice President, and we have all out support for him and this will not change. Because I believe in the platform (of government) of our incoming president Jejomar Binay],” Pacquiao said.

“Napakaganda ng mga programa para sa mahihirap. Ang priority para sa mahihirap kasi kaming lahat nakaranas kung paano maging mahirap. Kaya nararamdaman namin ang kalagayan ng mga mahihirap na tao [(Binay) has very good programs for the poor. The poor people is the priority because we all experience the difficulties of how it is to be poor. So we understand the plight of the poor people],” he added.

Pacquiao, together with Sarangani Gov. Steve Solon, also accompanied Binay as he attended the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Provincial Jamboree in Maasim.

The Sarangani representative underscored that his support for UNA goes beyond friendship.

“‘Yon nga lagi naming ini-emphasize na ang grupo namin, ang gagawin namin, ang focus namin ay tugunan ‘yong problema sa ating bansa [That is what we want to emphasize, that the work of our group, our focus is to find solutions to the problems of the country],” he said.

In previous interviews, Binay said the 2016 elections is all about poverty and how government can uplift the lives of the Filipino people.

“Talagang ang issue na dapat naming bigyan atensyon sa lalong madaling panahon pagkaupong-pagkaupo namin ay yong matugunan po ang problema sa kahirapan, kagutuman at kawalan ng trabaho [The issue that should be given attention in the soonest time possible as soon as we are voted in office is to find solutions to the problem of poverty, hunger, unemployment],” he said.

The Vice President mentioned that 11 out of 16 of the poorest provinces in the country are in Mindanao.

Binay is in Mindanao to attend the Kusog Mindanaw Conference and Presidential Candidates Forum in Davao on November 29. He said he wants to maximize his trip that’s why he visited areas in South Cotabato and Sarangani.

    1. As candidates for senator, I’m pretty sure Pacquiao will receive more votes than Rey Langit and Alma Moreno.
