The country’s biggest and grandest consolidated test drive activity held last November 12-15, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds attracted an impressive turn-out of visitors and logged a huge number of test drives. During the Auto Focus Pre-Christmas Test Drive (AFPCTD), the latest models available to the local market were featured and free test drives by the Philippines’ leading manufacturers and distributors were offered, all in a single venue. This unique pre-Christmas test drive program gave prospective car buyers and enthusiasts the opportunity to see or test drive the widest range of competing makes and models without having to go through the ordeal of having to run from one dealer to another in search of the model of their choice.
Participating at the AFPTD were such renowned brands as Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Lexus, Jeep, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota and Volkswagen.
Butch Gamboa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sunshine Television Production and Marketing Services Inc. (STV), the AFPTD organizer, pointed out the prevailing sentiment expressed by many visitors: “Most of what a prospect might consider buying or test driving: sedans, SUVs [sport utility vehicles], pick-ups, vans and multi-purpose vehicles, even sports cars, were there at venue. And much more, they were able to avail of the best deals or offers provided even before the traditional peak the automobile industry experiences during the Christmas season. ”
The grand pre-Christmas event is actually the second of STV’s annual test programs, the first being the Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival held last May at the same venue. Gamboa exclaimed: “These competitive test drive activities, held during the prime car buying periods of the year, provides a level of convenience that is utmost and unparalleled, both for prospects and enthusiasts as well as the automobile industry. It’s like a one-stop shop for new cars! During the AFPTD’s four-day run, the exhibitors registered more than 2,500 actual test drives within the on-site test tracks or around the SM MOA area. This is unprecedented. It bodes well for manufacturers and distributors willing to have their models put to outright comparative testing by their prospects. And at the end of it all, the greatest benefit redounds to where it should belong – the satisfied and happy car buyer.”
