Bike rider killed in police encounter

CAMP VICENTE LIM, LAGUNA: A man, who engaged members of the Bay Police Office in a running shoot-out, was killed on Wednesday. The man, identified as Ricardo De Leon, turned out to be the Number 7 most wanted in the drug list of the Bay Police. Laguna Provincial Police Director Florendo Salugao said police officers Ariel Arriesgado and Mark Caesar Guanizo were conducting a patrol when they hailed four men, riding in two motorcycles without helmets. But instead of stopping, the men fired shots at the two policemen, who returned fire and hitting two of the suspected robbers. The three were able to escape. Salugao said De Leon is also a suspected member of a notorious group engaged in robbery, carnapping and drug peddling. Recovered from the suspect was a grenade, one revolver of unknown caliber and one heat-sealed sachet of shabu.
