ANOTHER stash of illegal items was seized Wednesday morning at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City as the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) intensified the “Oplan Galugad” operations.
The latest shakedown was held at the Quadrant 2 buildings 4-A and 4-B and the Purok Batman Compound.
Authorities confiscated 12 bladed weapons, five pipes, four cellular phones, four chargers, a bottle of alcoholic drink, an arowana fish and several appliances like televisions, DVD players and air-conditioning units.
An inmate who was caught with a cell phone said he has no criminal intention but to communicate with his family in Cagayan de Oro City.
NBP Director Supt. Richard Schwarzkopf Jr. toured the reporters to show some illegal structures that were recently demolished in the quadrant.
Schwarzkopf said BuCor officials are intensifying their raids following the terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium on March 22.
Meanwhile, the BuCor will now put stickers/labels on “legal” appliances that can be used by inmates. The scheme allows the monitoring and control of devices inside the state penitentiary.
The stickers will be color-coded, with details of serial number and date of entry in the detention center.
