DAGUPAN City, Pangasinan: United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) standard bearer and Vice President Jejomar Binay appealed to the voting public anew to think thoroughly about whom to vote for, after the recent Pulse Asia pre-election survey commissioned by ABS-CBN showed that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte sustained his lead.
The survey was conducted before Duterte’s remark on the rape and killing of an Australian lay missionary in a Davao prison in 1989 went viral.
Following him in the survey were independent bet Sen. Grace Poe, Binay, administration bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas 2nd, and Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Sabagay, ulitin ko ah, iyang survey, ang tamang survey ay pagkatapos ng halalan [I hope you add, the first placer fell by several points, and I rose by four points. Anyway, I will repeat, that survey, the real survey, is after the elections],” Binay said in a news briefing when asked on the matter.
At the same time, he reiterated his appeal for the voting public to think thoroughly about whom to vote for in order to avoid regrets later.
Hindi ba ‘yung pagdating ho ng oras dahil sa pagkaboto niyo naging pangulo e magsisi pa kayo [My message to my fellowmen, we will be voting soon so think thoroughly that you will not regret whom you will vote for, and will even be proud, wow this is the president, because of the president I voted for, the lives of every Filipino were uplifted and our country improved. That the time will not come that you will regret that someone became president because of your vote],” Binay said.
The Vice President has been hitting Duterte in recent statements and has warned the public against voting for Duterte, recalling the latter’s admission that he has killed criminals.
My means of uplifting lives, that is the answer to the problems we face, not the killing of children, adults…Regret comes at the end. When you regret, your loved ones have already been killed, the dead will not be resurrected also especially even if it is not your relative, your fellow Filipino who was killed just because of suspicion that they did something wrong],” Binay said.
The UNA standard bearer has said that eradicating poverty is the best solution to criminality, along with effective law enforcement and reforms in law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
