Binay camp: Policemen unhurt in Makati scuffle

The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Wednesday denied that police officers were hurt during a scuffle at Makati City Hall day earlier.

Col. Ferdinand Fraginal, head of the Vice Presidential Security Detachment, called the fight an “unfortunate event.”

“In our initial investigation, we found that there is no truth to the report that the security personnel of the Vice President hurt some police officers during the incident,” the statement from Fraginal said.

He added that Binay’s security personnel “acted with restraint and focused their efforts to ensure the security and safety of the Vice President.”

“Rest assured that we will fully cooperate with any investigation to resolve this matter,” Fraginal said.

He was referring to the incident on Tuesday wherein Binay allegedly hit members of the Philippine National Police who had served a suspension order against his son, Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr.
